gothic versus romtic , pale ladies.

gothic barbarian , taken from medieval goths, germanic.  art removed aesthetic propoartions of classical. early stages heavily critisized before being acepted .

gothicism lead furmost by archtechtural styling which revolutionised not only archtetcure its self but other fascets of society, urge to expand to highest of heaven.  churches which at time whee designed for granduer to indicate there stature litteral and metaphysicaly to the average person. closer to heaven etc.

this urge created the high peaked and other recogniseable details. early works sculptue of and on cathedrals depicting bilicial stories  morely through lives of saints ( mary effectionate human mother).

gothic art strongly influnced by an earlier time,  but slowly encompased all artistic genres though never fully capturing the heart of classical italian. not until later 16th century by which time international gothic style was in place. but the 16th century renaisaance art was digestedt into renaisannce art.

main medium being sculpture staine dglass, freasco panel paintings and manuscripts.

civilisation would cradle these artists through a class who could and now would be there patrons.
